CEYLON CINNAMON ORGANIC CERTIFIED
Pipe of about 6cm, Cinnamon Zeylanicum
Ceylon cinnamon sticks is a spice obtained from the inner bark of the Ceylon cinnamon, a tree native to Sri Lanka. Cinnamon sticks are produced by drying and rolling the inner bark of the cinnamon tree, which easily separates into thin layers when dried.
Ceylon cinnamon has a sweet, warm and aromatic flavor, with hints of cloves and nutmeg. It is often used to flavor sweet dishes such as desserts, fruit compotes and hot drinks such as tea and coffee.
In addition to its culinary use, Ceylon cinnamon also has medicinal properties. It is rich in antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that can help reduce inflammation and improve overall health. Ceylon cinnamon may also help regulate blood sugar by stimulating glucose uptake into cells, making it a popular ingredient in diabetic diets.
It is important to note that Ceylon cinnamon and Cassia cinnamon, a less expensive and more commonly used variety of cinnamon, have different flavor profiles and different levels of coumarin, a potentially toxic compound in large amounts. If you use cinnamon in large quantities for its medicinal properties, it is recommended to choose Ceylon cinnamon to reduce the risk of coumarin.
