SENCHA SAEMIDORI MINAMITANESHO ORGANIC CERTIFIED 2024
Sencha produced in Minamitanesho in Kagoshima prefecture, southern Japan, in April 2025. In this price range, this is one of our very best sencha of the year 2025, we highly recommend it, it has a lot of umami and vegetal flavors, all in a perfect balance.
The cultivar: Saemidori is a Japanese green tea cultivar. It was developed and registered in Japan in 1990. "Saemidori" literally means "fresh green," reflecting the bright, fresh color of this cultivar's leaves.
Saemidori is primarily used to produce high-quality tea, particularly sencha and gyokuro. It is prized for its fresh aroma, mellow flavor, and pronounced vegetal character. Saemidori leaves are a bright, glossy green, visually distinguishing them from other tea cultivars.
This cultivar is grown in various regions of Japan, but is particularly associated with Kagoshima Prefecture, where it is widely cultivated. Kagoshima's climatic conditions, with its abundant sunshine and rich soils, are ideal for growing Saemidori.
Due to its delicate flavor and growing popularity, Saemidori has become one of the most sought-after Japanese green tea cultivars, both in Japan and abroad.
Brewing advice: This is a high-end tea and we strongly recommend that you respect the basic dosages and use quality water to brew this tea.
Quality water will be water that is very weakly mineralized. Check the dry residue on the label of the water you want to use, a value between 20 and 100mg/L will be suitable. That said, this is not an infallible rule, some waters at 130mg/L work well (Volvic) while others below 100mg/L have less good results. A fairly famous and cheap water is the source of the Grand Barbier that you will find at Carrefour.
Infuse small quantities of tea in a small container. The ideal would be a teapot between 20 and 30cl maximum. Place 5 to 8g of leaves for 1 minute of infusion with water at 70 degrees.
