Cultivar: Saemidori is a Japanese green tea cultivar. It was developed and registered in Japan in 1990. "Saemidori" literally means "fresh green," reflecting the bright, fresh color of this cultivar's leaves.
Saemidori is primarily used to produce high-quality tea, particularly sencha and gyokuro. It is prized for its fresh aroma, mellow flavor, and pronounced vegetal character. Saemidori leaves are a bright, glossy green, visually distinguishing them from other tea cultivars.
This cultivar is grown in various regions of Japan, but is particularly associated with Kagoshima Prefecture, where it is widely cultivated. Kagoshima's climatic conditions, with its abundant sunshine and rich soils, are ideal for growing Saemidori.
Due to its delicate flavor and growing popularity, Saemidori has become one of the most sought-after Japanese green tea cultivars, both in Japan and abroad.
Preparation instructions: Brew this tea in a small teapot, ideally between 10 and 20 cl. Place 5g of leaves in the teapot, cover with slightly mineralized water heated to between 65 and 70 degrees Celsius, wait 40 seconds, and serve.
