Spring 2023 Kamairicha from the locality of Ureshino in Saga Prefecture, east of the island of Kyushu, in the south of Japan.

This tea was presented at the national green tea competition in September 2023, it obtained 19th place in the Kamairicha category out of more than 100 participating teas. The appearance of the leaves is magnificent, very small, finely rolled. The flavors are vegetal, with very lightly roasted notes.

Cultivar: Yabukita

Kamairicha is an unsteamed Japanese green tea, with twisted leaves cooked in a wok. These teas appeared a few hundred years ago, their manufacturing techniques are Chinese-inspired. Over the years, Kamairicha fell into disuse, in favor of steamed sencha. Today, Kamairicha production represents only 2% of teas produced in Japan.
